Not only was it Valentine’s Day, it was a Saturday, there were two conferences in our hotel alone and the Boat Show was in town. There was not one hotel to be had on the east coast of Florida in February. Being the resourceful, savvy road warriors that we were, we got the last rental car available at the airport, booked a hotel in Naples and drove through the Everglades in the middle of the night. It was the most breathtaking monument I had ever seen. The people who lost their lives in the tragic event were remembered beautifully there. It was quite powerful experiencing it with my coworkers of all walks of life. First job: Packing Thanksgiving pies at midnight of my 13th birthday, which led to my long-time bakery job at our local farm. Brush with fame: During college, I interned for Wendy Williams when she was on a nationally broadcasted radio show out of Manhattan. I met tons of celebrities who came in for interviews.
